When the World Feels Heavy: A Personal Reflection from Vital Yogis

Lately, the world has felt like it's spinning a little too fast. Layoffs, uncertainty, global unrest—it’s a lot. And if you’ve been feeling overwhelmed, anxious, or just plain exhausted, I want you to know: you’re not alone.

I’ve felt it too.

As a yoga teacher and small business owner rooted in the Sky Valley, I’ve watched my schedule slow down in ways that have left me questioning everything. There have been quiet weeks, canceled sessions, and moments when I’ve sat on my mat wondering if this path is still mine. I’ve had days where the doubt was loud and the future felt foggy.

These are vulnerable moments. And they’re real.

But in the midst of that uncertainty, I’ve returned—again and again—to the tools that yoga has given me. Breath. Movement. Stillness. The ability to pause and feel what’s happening in my body. To soften the panic. To find a sliver of peace in the chaos.

Yoga has taught me:

• To come back to the present moment, even when my mind wants to run.

• To move with breath and intention, clearing out the mental clutter.

• To reconnect with myself—with clarity, calm, and compassion.

Vital Yogis is a space to slow down—even if just for a short while. A space to find moments of clarity and allow your own inherent wisdom to guide your next steps. When we connect inward and offer ourselves peace and love, we begin to expand that energy outward. We begin to help make the world a better place—for ourselves, for our communities, and for all beings.

There have been mornings when I’ve walked Gunther through the misty Cascade foothills, breathing in the quiet and letting it remind me that I’m still here. That even in the unknown, there’s beauty. There’s grace.

If you’re in a space of turmoil right now, I see you. I understand. And I want you to know that yoga can be a lifeline. Not a fix-all, but a gentle way to come home to yourself. To feel your feet on the ground. To remember your strength.

At Vital Yogis, I offer sessions that meet you where you are—whether you’re navigating job loss, emotional overwhelm, or just feeling untethered. These practices are designed to help you move with breath, clear the mind, and reconnect with your inner steadiness.

You’re not alone in this storm. We’re all feeling it in the collective. And together, we can find moments of calm, strength, and renewal.

With love and presence,

Amy

Vital Yogis
